TEST What types of activities aimed at promoting equality in the workplace are eligible for support?

Financial assistance is available to support projects that make a tangible and lasting contribution to gender equality in the workplace.

The Confederation pursues three goals in order to achieve true gender equality in the workplace in practice:

• Women and men are represented in all sectors, professions and at all hierarchical levels. Young people choose their profession from a wide range of options, free from gender stereotypes.
• Employers support the balance between work and family life and enable flexible working conditions.
• Women and men are equal in terms of recruitment, pay, parenthood, training and career development. Working life is free from discrimination on the basis of gender.

This includes equality for trans women and trans men.

The Swiss Confederation supports these projects

Public or private non-profit organisations may apply for financial assistance. Their projects must contribute as practically and sustainably as possible to substantive equality in the workplace.

For the period 2026–2029, the Federal Department of Home Affairs (FDHA) has issued new priorities for the allocation of financial assistance under the Equality Act. With this new set of priorities and its four key areas, the FDHA aims, in particular, to strengthen the objectives and measures of the ‘Equality Strategy 2030’ adopted by the Federal Council in 2021.

• Focus area A: Projects targeting employees aimed at promoting the equal participation of women and men in the labour market
• Focus area B: Projects aimed at businesses/employers to promote equality within organisations
• Focus area C: Sector-specific projects aimed at promoting equality
• Focus area D: Projects aimed at encouraging children and young people to choose a career independent of gender stereotypes

Develop your project idea

A preliminary project allows you to develop your project idea and clarify its need and feasibility. Preliminary projects are eligible for funding of up to CHF 15,000, with applicants covering 25 per cent of the total costs.
