The Federal Office for Gender Equality (FOGE) promotes gender equality. Its central objectives are equality in the workplace and the elimination of violence against women and domestic violence. The FOGE is also responsible for coordinating the gender equality strategy 2030, the first national strategy for equality in all areas of life.

Review of progress and challenges in the field of equality in Switzerland
In the run-up to the 30th anniversary of the Beijing Declaration next year, Swit-zerland is taking stock on gender equality. At its meeting on 26 June 2024, the Federal Council adopted a report on this subject to the attention of the UN. Among the major achievements is Switzerland’s first Gender Equality Strategy 2030. In terms of challenges, women are still in the majority in low-paid sectors and account for the vast majority of victims of domestic violence.

Federal Councillor Elisabeth Baume-Schneider will co-chair the first Forum on Gender Equality held by the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) in Paris on Tuesday, 11 June. The forum will focus on advancing gender equality amid green, energy and digital transitions. Switzerland will seek to emphasise the role of gender-sensitive data collection and digital tools in promoting gender equality.
Parental partner violence: better protection for affected children
A new study commissioned by the Federal Office for Gender Equality (FOGE) and the Swiss Conference against Domestic Violence sheds light on the situation of children affected by violence in parental relationships. Specific recommendations show how existing gaps in support services can be closed and how the protection of affected children in Switzerland can be improved.
