Let’s prevent violence where it starts
On 11 November 2025, Federal Councillor Elisabeth Baume-Schneider launched a national prevention campaign against violence. The campaign “Equality prevents violence” was developed by the Federal Office for Gender Equality (FOGE) with the support of a broad alliance of government bodies and NGOs. It will be repeated in the years to come.
Domestic, sexual and gender-based violence: Launch of first national prevention campaign
The first national prevention campaign against domestic, sexual and gender-based violence was launched on 11 November by Federal Councillor Elisabeth Baume-Schneider. The campaign is set to run over the course of several years and will address different target groups. It was prepared by the Federal Office for Gender Equality in collaboration with a broad alliance of partners from the Confederation, cantons, communes and civil society organisations.
Femicides: Measures by the federal government, cantons and communes take shape
In view of the alarming number of femicides in Switzerland, the committee responsible for the implementation of the Istanbul Convention on combating violence against women and domestic violence defined three urgent measures in June, focusing on the prevention of violence and protection of victims. Yesterday, the committee, comprising representatives from the federal government, cantons and communes, took stock of the progress made in implementing these measures.
Violence against women and domestic violence: Switzerland submits its second state report
At its meeting on 26 September, the Federal Council adopted its second state report on the implementation of the Istanbul Convention, which focuses on developments since 2021. The emphasis is on information regarding prevention, protection and prosecution, new trends in Switzerland and data from the last two years.
