Wage equality analysis

July 1st 2025 marks the five-year anniversary of the amendment to the Gender Equality Act (GEA) and the Ordinance on the audit of the equal pay analysis, which came into force on July 1st 2020.

Companies with 100 or more employees had to conduct the first internal equal pay analysis by the end of June 2021 at the latest. In addition, a formal evaluation of the equal pay analysis had to be done, and the employees and shareholders had to be informed about the result of this analysis.

Employers whose initial equal pay analysis indicated that equal pay requirements were not met, shall repeat the analysis after four years (Art. 13a para 2 GEA).

Furthermore, employers who employ 100 or more persons for the first time at the start of any year shall conduct an internal equal pay analysis for that year. Employers may be subject to the obligation to conduct an analysis until 2032 if they reach the threshold of 100 employees.

According to the GEA, the Confederation provides employers with a free standard analysis tool Logib for conducting equal pay analyses. There are two modules. Module 1 is aimed at large companies, while Module 2 is suitable for smaller companies.

Four years have now passed since the first mandatory equal pay analysis for employers who employed 100 or more persons in 2020. To mark this occasion, the “Instructions for the formal evaluation of the wage equality analysis with the standard analysis tool Logib” were completed. The update allows equal pay analyses with Logib module2 to be to evaluated formally.
