Develop a pay system using Logib pay system
Logib pay system enables you to create the foundations for systematic pay setting in your company or organisation. It provides an insight into existing pay practices and, based on this, allows you to develop a simple function and pay system.
Logib pay system is available to all employers free of charge. It is particularly suitable for small and medium size companies and organisations that would like to receive guidance on setting up a pay system or an insight into pay practices.
A clearly structured pay system uses the requirements and demands of functions as the basis for setting salaries. By consistently evaluating positions against their requirements and demands and designing the pay bands accordingly, you reduce the risk of pay discrimination. This means that you are actively creating a basis for greater pay equality in line with the principle «equal pay for work of equal value». Logib pay system provides you with support in this regard.
Aim and results
If in your company or organisation, salaries are still set without an overarching systematic approach, Logib pay system can offer you guidance in the development of a pay system. If you are unsure whether salaries are set in your company or organisation in a cross-comparative way, Logib pay system can help you to create the foundation for defining salaries in a systematic and clear way. You will
- gain comprehensive insights into your existing pay practices and can analyse and optimise these in a structured way;
- be able to check whether existing pay practices are consistent;
- see which people in which sector are being paid more or less than would be expected in your company based on requirements and demands;
- be able to see what a pay system which consistently links functions to requirements and demands could look like.
The results of your analysis – pay bands, tables, graphs – can be downloaded at any time for editing or for documentation purposes.
Procedure and time required
Logib pay system takes you through the application step by step. The procedure can be broken down into the following steps:
- Download data file and general information about Logib pay system. Record employee data.
- Import data file (or export file from Logib module 1 or 2) and check entries.
- Create functional landscape: Evaluate all functions in the company in terms of their requirements and demands so that cross-comparisons are correct and employees can be allocated to the appropriate function.
- Create pay system: Based on evaluations of the functions and the current salaries, Logib pay system proposes a specified number of pay categories with the relevant pay bands. It shows which employees allocated to the corresponding pay category are above, below or within the pay band. Following the logic of the system, it is to be expected that each person falls within the pay band.
- Download result: Download pay categories and the corresponding pay bands. Check individually whether measures are necessary for existing employees with regards to their pay. Place new employees in the pay category for their function within the pay band.
Use of Logib pay system takes about half a day to a day, including preparation of the data. It may take more or less time depending on how many employees and functions are available and whether a basic pay systematic already exists. Methods
Logib pay system is methodologically based on scientific work evaluation. It is used to define the requirements and demands of the work activities performed (function values). Based on these function values, Logib pay system assigns the functions to different pay categories. Based on current pay practices, Logib pay system calculates a suggested pay band. Differences in experience between employees are taken into account.
