One of the main tasks of the Violence Division is to ensure coordination and networking. It promotes cooperation within the federal administration as well as between the Confederation, the cantons, specialized services and non-governmental organizations. Since 2018, it is responsible for coordinating the implementation of the Istanbul Convention at the national and international levels and for preparing Switzerland's report to the Council of Europe.

Implementation of the Istanbul Convention: national action plan available
At its meeting on 22 June, the Federal Council adopted the National Action Plan 2022-2026 for the implementation of the Council of Europe Convention on preventing and combating violence against women and domestic violence (Istanbul Convention). It focuses on three main issues: informing the public and raising public awareness, providing basic and further training for professional staff and volunteers, and preventing and combating sexual and sexist violence.
